Terms of Service

Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service govern your use of SafeMe Israel, a personal safety application for Android devices. By downloading, installing, or using SafeMe Israel, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, do not use the application.

SafeMe may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the application after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

Important Disclaimer: SafeMe Israel is a personal safety assistance tool, NOT a replacement for emergency services, police, ambulance services, security forces, or official emergency response systems. For any life-threatening emergency or urgent situation, contact your local police, ambulance service, fire department, or other emergency authorities directly in your region.

What SafeMe Does

SafeMe is an Android application that helps users send emergency alerts and reach trusted contacts. SafeMe enables users to:

  • Send emergency SOS alerts to people they designate as trusted contacts
  • Share real-time GPS location with those trusted contacts
  • Send quick help requests with location information and custom messages
  • Create optional audio recordings and event documentation

Alerts are sent directly from your device to the phone numbers of your trusted contacts via SMS or WhatsApp. SafeMe does not route, intercept, monitor, redirect, or store these alerts on SafeMe-controlled servers. The app operates locally on your device.

SafeMe Is Not Emergency Services

SafeMe is explicitly NOT:

  • A police dispatch system or emergency call service
  • An ambulance or medical emergency service
  • Connected to, monitored by, or integrated with official emergency response infrastructure
  • Staffed by or monitored by professional emergency responders
  • A substitute for directly contacting emergency authorities

For life-threatening emergencies, contact emergency authorities directly. SafeMe notifies your trusted contacts that you need help, but only your trusted contacts will be notified. It is their responsibility to assist you or contact emergency services on your behalf. You cannot rely on SafeMe alone for emergency response.

Your Setup Responsibility

You are responsible for properly configuring SafeMe before relying on it in an emergency:

  • Add accurate, current phone numbers for trusted contacts
  • Keep all contact phone numbers up to date and verified
  • Test SafeMe on your Android device before an emergency to confirm it works
  • Enable necessary device permissions (location, contacts, microphone, storage as applicable)
  • Understand the app's features, capabilities, and limitations
  • Review and understand optional features (audio recording, documentation) before using them
  • Train your trusted contacts on how to interpret and respond to alerts

If you do not configure SafeMe properly, it may fail to function when you need it. Incorrect contact numbers, disabled permissions, or untested setup could prevent alerts from reaching your trusted contacts.

Lawful Use Requirements

You agree to use SafeMe lawfully, responsibly, and ethically. You agree NOT to:

  • Send false, fraudulent, misleading, or prank emergency alerts
  • Use the app to harass, abuse, threaten, bully, or intimidate anyone
  • Send repeated alerts for non-emergency situations or test purposes
  • Transmit illegal, harmful, or threatening content
  • Attempt to hack, reverse-engineer, modify, or compromise the app's security
  • Record any individual without applicable legal consent where required by law
  • Use the app for any purpose other than legitimate personal safety assistance

Misuse of SafeMe may result in restriction of app functionality and may have legal consequences under applicable law.

Alert Delivery and Limitations

When you send an emergency alert through SafeMe:

  1. Your message, location, and recipient details are prepared on your device
  2. The alert is sent directly from your device to your trusted contacts via SMS or WhatsApp
  3. You are responsible for ensuring all phone numbers are correct and current
  4. Delivery success depends on network availability, carrier SMS service, WhatsApp service, recipient phone status, and recipient ability to receive messages
  5. SafeMe cannot guarantee immediate delivery, successful delivery, or any delivery at all

Alerts may be delayed, blocked, lost, or fail to deliver due to network issues, carrier problems, incorrect contact numbers, recipient phone being off or unavailable, message service failures, or recipient service settings. You cannot rely on guaranteed alert delivery.

Optional Recording and Documentation Features

SafeMe includes optional features to record audio or create event documentation. These features depend on:

  • Your explicit choice to enable and use them
  • Your Android device having the necessary permissions granted (microphone, storage)
  • Your device having sufficient capability and resources to support recording
  • Your local laws and regulations governing audio recording
  • Applicable consent requirements under local law for recording individuals

You are solely responsible for using recording features lawfully, ethically, and in compliance with all applicable laws. Recording others without applicable legal consent may violate local privacy laws, wiretapping laws, recording consent laws, or other statutes in your jurisdiction. SafeMe is not responsible for how you use recording features or any legal consequences arising from your use.

All recordings and documentation you create are stored on your device only. They are not sent to SafeMe or external servers unless you explicitly choose to share them.

Technical Dependencies and Limitations

SafeMe's operation depends on factors outside SafeMe's control:

  • Android Device: Your Android device must be functioning properly and must have sufficient resources and storage
  • Device Permissions: Your device must grant necessary permissions to SafeMe; if permissions are denied or revoked, features will not work
  • Mobile Network: SMS alerts depend on mobile network and carrier SMS availability; WhatsApp alerts depend on internet connectivity and WhatsApp availability
  • SMS Service: SMS delivery depends on your mobile carrier's SMS service functioning, having available capacity, and routing alerts successfully
  • WhatsApp Service: WhatsApp alert delivery depends on WhatsApp service availability, the recipient having WhatsApp installed and active, and WhatsApp message delivery functioning
  • GPS and Location: Location accuracy depends on GPS satellite signal availability, device GPS settings, Android system GPS functionality, environmental factors, and signal strength. Location may be inaccurate, delayed, or unavailable
  • Recipient Availability: Trusted contacts must have working devices, network access, and the ability to receive and respond to alerts

SafeMe Cannot Guarantee:

  • Uninterrupted, error-free, or continuous app operation
  • Immediate, prompt, or any alert delivery at all
  • Accurate, precise, or real-time location information
  • Recipients will receive alerts or respond to alerts
  • Help will arrive in time or at all
  • The app will function without errors or failures on your specific device
  • Your trusted contacts will be available, reachable, or able to help

  • Loss of data, information, privacy, or personal property
  • Failed, delayed, inaccurate, or unsuccessful alert delivery

  • Inability to reach help, contact recipients, or summon assistance
  • Lack of emergency response, assistance, or help from recipients
  • Any harm, injury, damage, or loss occurring during or after an emergency
  • Consequences, legal liability, or damages resulting from use of optional recording features

This limitation of liability applies even if SafeMe has been advised of the possibility of such damages. In jurisdictions that do not permit the limitation of liability, SafeMe's total liability shall be limited to the amount you paid for the app (if any) in the 12 months preceding the claim, or a nominal amount if SafeMe is free.
